Jay Carter, Countertenor
Kansas City based, and a local favorite, Jay Carter has gained a reputation as one of the nation's finest countertenors. A frequent collaborator with both period and modern ensembles, he is lauded for his luminous tone, stylish interpretations, and clarion delivery. Recent appearances include Bach Collegium San Diego, Bach Virtuosi Festival (NYC), BachFest Leipzig, and and Bach Virtuosi Festival (Portland). Here in Kansas City, he serves as Co-Artistic Director of Musica Vocale.

At her recent debut with Boston Early Music Festival she was hailed as a “breakout artist” (Boston Globe) with “a voice that is theatre itself” (Classique News). Other recent debuts include the Kennedy Center, Innsbruch Early Music Festival, Chicago Opera Theatre, Atlanta Baroque, and Haymarket Opera. Now based in Chicago, Hannah is originally from St. Joseph and
is a graduate of William Jewell College.

Daniel S. Lee, Violin
Praised for his “ravishing vehemence” and “fleet-fingered, passionate... soulful performance” (The New York Times), period violinist Daniel S. Lee enjoys a varied career as a soloist, leader, collaborator, scholar, and educator. He is the founding director of The Sebastians, a period ensemble based in New York City whose programming is critically acclaimed
for being “everywhere sharp-edged and engaging” (The New York Times).
Daniel joined KC Baroque as Concertmaster in 2023.
Trevor Stewart, Recorder
Recorder, clarinet, and chalumeau player, Trevor is an active soloist, orchestral musician, and educator. He is Acting Assistant Principal Clarinet with the Kansas Symphony, has served as Principal Clarinet in the Topeka Symphony, the Wichita Symphony, and the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas, and as former Instructor of Clarinet at Missouri Western State University. His solo recorder playing has been featured in collaborations with the Collegium Vocale of St. Louis, Te Deum Choral Ensemble, Chamber Music on the Mountain Festival, and the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra. Trevor has been a favorite of KC Baroque audiences since joining us in 2021 performing on recorder and chalumeau (the early clarinet).
